Just north of Copenhagen, behind sun-yellow walls and winding garden paths, you’ll find Gentofte Hotel – a peaceful and historic retreat with roots dating back to the 1600s and a heart that still beats warmly. For decades, we’ve hosted life’s big moments – weddings, christenings, birthdays, and celebrations – and we continue to feel honoured every time someone chooses to create memories here with us.

It all began right here, in the birthplace of our founder Alf Arp-Hansen. In 1960, he purchased the hotel and welcomed his first guests the following year. With a keen eye for both brickwork and fine art, he also had a natural sense for the soul of the place. That soul lives on today.

In 2024, all 98 rooms at Gentofte Hotel were gently refurbished – with respect for history and a love for light, nature, and simplicity. This is a place to breathe. The rooms come in five categories, and allergy-friendly interiors are available upon request. When you wake, our bright restaurant welcomes you with a delicious breakfast buffet featuring freshly baked bread, soft-boiled eggs, fruit, vegetables, yoghurt, and all the little things that make the morning better.

You’ll be staying in the heart of Gentofte – with local cafés and shops nearby, and nature right around the corner. Gentofte Lake is truly something special. Walk, jog, or simply enjoy the view of the still water. If you’re lucky, you might spot children with packed lunches, birds in flight, or the last rays of sunlight painting the sky orange and pink. Just a short stroll away is Bernstorff Castle Garden – a peaceful, botanical haven only five minutes from the hotel.
