1.5 million guests have either stayed at or visited Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center since it opened in 2010. Arp-Hansen Hotel Group and Tivoli Gardens are therefore now expanding to include a new themed business hotel with 282 rooms, which will be an integrated part of the existing Tivoli Hotel. 38 new meeting and conference rooms will form part of the expansion. The rooms will be opened to guests as early as 1 July 2015 and the meeting facilities will be ready from 1 October this year. The hotel, which is designed by the internationally renowned architect Kim Utzon, will also feature an exclusive pool with a glass bottom that hovers above the hotel façade at a height of 43 metres. At the hotel's top floor opens the beef restaurant MASH Penthouse October 15 2015.
Upon its expected completion this summer, the new 12-storey hotel will bear the mark of Tivoli Garden’s spirit and design history. Just as with the existing Tivoli Hotel, the new hotel will meet the needs of business guests while fulfilling the wishes of the family segment. The total capacity of Tivoli Hotel will be 679 rooms, with meeting facilities that can accommodate 6,000 guests.
The new hotel realises the original plan for the entire conference and hotel area on Kalvebod Brygge, which, in addition to Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center, also includes 510 rooms at the budget hotel Wakeup Copenhagen. Following the expansion, the congress complex will offer some 1,200 rooms.
Seen as a whole, the extended Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center will offer a variety of new features, all worthy of a visit in their own right:
According to the CEO of the company behind the restaurant, guests will find that there are no compromises here when it comes to the ingredients, the taste, the setting, the details or the service, as we believe there is more to the consummate dining experience than what is served to the guest alone. Service and the atmosphere will be every bit as important at Tivoli Hotel's new first-class restaurant.
"Arp-Hansen Hotel Group's cooperation with this first-class restaurant is the perfect alliance between two experienced players in the Copenhagen tourism industry, and together we will be creating a new framework for tourist and conference guests in Copenhagen," explains Dorte Krak, CEO of Arp-Hansen Hotel Group.
Lise Lyck, tourism expert and external lecturer at Copenhagen Business School and the University of Copenhagen says: "The fact that linking Tivoli Gardens– Denmark's biggest attraction – with a hotel based on the Tivoli Gardens concept has proved such a success is good for tourism in Copenhagen. Although experience from abroad has shown that theme hotels benefit the attraction, the hotel and the destination, it could not automatically be assumed that this would be the case in Denmark. There is no doubt that what we are seeing is a crucial part of the way forward if we are to continue the upward trend in the number of tourists visiting Denmark. What we need now for Copenhagen to become an even bigger success is for transport in Copenhagen to run without hindering development and for trade to be more closely linked to value creation.”
Dorte Krak, CEO of Arp-Hansen Hotel Group says:
"Arp-Hansen Hotel Group's cooperation with Tivoli Gardens and exciting international restaurant brands is the perfect alliance between experienced players in the Copenhagen tourism industry. Together we are creating a new framework for tourists and conference guests in Copenhagen, allowing us to continue welcoming our guests in the new hotel setting, a stone's throw from Tivoli Gardens."
Lars Liebst, CEO of Tivoli says:
"In recent years, we have been working on expanding our areas of business in the tourism value chain. The expansion of the current Tivoli Hotel, which also benefits the business segment, is a natural extension of our strategy to make Tivoli Gardens a year-round business. Arp-Hansen's ability to manage hotels combined with our degree of knowledge at home and abroad means that, together, we can give guests at the hotel something they cannot get elsewhere, and hopefully this will continue to have a positive effect on the visitor numbers of both parties."
On 1 April 2015, Tivoli Hotel will be launching its new Welcome China programme, which aims to build a sense of security and communication in Chinese, thus creating a positive experience for guests travelling here from China.
The Welcome China programme includes:
